DR. Jeanne D’Arc Mujawamariya

Dr. Jeanne D’Arc Mujawamariya is the current Ambassador of the Republic of
Rwanda in the Russian Federation and non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of
Belarus. She previously served as the :
• Vice Chancellor / Rector of Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (2011-2013) ;
• Minister in Prime Minister’s Office in Charge of Gender and Family Promotion (2008-
2011) ;
• Minister of Education in the Government of Rwanda (2006-2008) ;
• Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Scientific
Research in Charge of Higher education (2005-2006) ;
• Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Scientific
Research in Charge of Primary and Secondary education (2003-2005) ;
• Lecturer (of Physical Chemistry) at Faculty of Education / Department of Biology &
Chemistry at National University of Rwanda (2001-2003).
She authored and published seven papers in International Journals (Sensor and Actuators,
Talanta, Analytical Chemistry, IEEE-Sensor) and authored one paper presented
in the International Conference on Sensors which took place in Pune (India) in November,
2000. Dr. Mujawamariya J.A. is a holder of PhD degree (Physical chemistry) from
the Indian Institute of Technology – Roorkee (1998-2001) and an Undergraduate and
Graduate degrees from the 04 Russian Peoples’ Friendship University, Moscow-Russia
(1990-1997).
She is a holder of certificates of :
• Teaching Chemistry in Secondary School and Higher Learning institutions,
• Russian-English and Russian-French translator from Russian Peoples’ Friendship
University, Moscow.
Dr Mujawamariya fluently speaks Kinyarwanda, French, English, Russian and a good
Swahili. She is married and blessed with three children.
